ProxyLib / Clarifications

Clarifications

Recently, information has surfaced about a large-scale malicious operation called “PROXYLIB,” discovered by the Satori Threat Intelligence team at HUMAN. This operation involved 28 apps on the Google Play Store that, once installed, secretly registered Android devices into a hidden proxy network comprising approximately 3 million devices—all without the users’ knowledge or consent. The malware used a Golang library, also named “PROXYLIB,” to facilitate the registration of devices into this network. HUMAN’s investigation revealed connections between the perpetrators behind this malware and the commercial residential proxy provider Asocks, suggesting that the illegally created proxy network was monetized by selling access to the compromised IP addresses (HUMAN Security, 2024).

We want to make it absolutely clear that ProxyLib (https://proxylib.com/) has no connection to this malicious software. Our platform is a fully legitimate service providing free proxy servers to users worldwide. We understand that the similarity in names may cause confusion, and we aim to dispel any doubts regarding our commitment to legitimacy and security.

What is ProxyLib?

ProxyLib (https://proxylib.com/) is a platform that aggregates and provides lists of public proxy servers supporting HTTP, HTTPS, SOCKS4, and SOCKS5 protocols. We do not own or operate these servers but rigorously check them for speed, reliability, and anonymity. Our goal is to help users bypass geo-restrictions, protect their privacy, and ensure anonymous internet access.

Our Commitment to Security

Our lists are updated every 20 minutes, and the proxies undergo regular checks to ensure they are functional. We also offer proxy-checking tools so users can verify the proxies’ functionality before use.

How to Protect Yourself from Malware

Unfortunately, the internet is rife with malicious software that may use similar names to mislead users. Here are some tips to protect yourself:

  1. Verify Sources: Ensure you download apps and use services only from official and trusted sources.
  2. Use Antivirus Software: Regularly update antivirus software on your devices.
  3. Be Cautious with Free VPNs and Proxies: Some free services may hide malicious features. Always check a service’s reputation before using it.

Our Plans for the Future

We are committed to improving our service. In the near future, we plan to introduce an API that will allow developers and businesses to integrate our proxy servers into their applications and workflows. We will also continue to enhance our proxy-checking and updating tools to ensure maximum reliability and performance.
